Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation
Addiction Rounds at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) February 2018
Learning Objectives:
- To learn about common brain circuit conditions, and how these can be linked to dysfunction in key brain areas
- To learn about emerging forms of neuromodulation in psychiatry
- To learn about the challenges of direct-to-brain forms of neuromodulation
Biography:
Dr. Lipsman's research focuses on the development of novel neuromodulation strategies, which target sites within the central nervous system using electrical stimulation or drugs, for neurologic and psychiatric conditions that are difficult to treat. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Lipsman has helped develop several Phase 1 to Phase 3 clinical trials of deep brain stimulation (DBS) and MR-guided focused ultrasound (FUS) in novel indications, including the worlds first trial of DBS in chronic anorexia nervosa, and among the first published experiences of FUS for essential tremor.
